WIMBLEDON: ORDER RESTORED

In his second round match, Rafa took on #52 Rosol. The hype leading into the match was insane. Yes, we all remembered what happened two years ago. Vividly. We also knew that lightening rarely strikes twice. At least, were were hoping it didn’t.

The match started with Rosol holding with an ease that was making Rafa fans uneasy. Rafa was holding well too until the 9th game – he played his worst game of the match and was broken allowing Rosol to serve for the set. Which he did. With ease.

Rosol broke at love in the 5th game of the 2nd set and we were truly worried about that lightening storm returning. Rafa shooed the clouds away a few games later by breaking back for 4-4. They both held until we found ourself in a tiebreak. Rosol went up 5-3 with a minibreak, but Rafa fought back to level things at 5-5 and then take the tiebreaker 8-6. Second set, Rafa.

Looking a bit more confident, Rafa broke in the 3rd game of the 3rd set. He rode that break for all it was worth and went on to serve out the set with an ace and a love hold. 6-4

The 4th set started with a break and a hold at love by Rafa. And despite a tight game when serving for the match, that break was all he needed. Rafa wins: 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-4, 6-4
